Dear Miss Morton, — ThU is mv first letter to you since I ioined your club and I am writing to see If you could give me some information rej K* "S£ Zealand * Herald which say the bellbjrd and mako ' st-ssr saCAtttf s ffis and having quite distinctive markings, e.g., bluish grey rings round the eyes, blue g.11., and in colour resembling a hen blackbird. They frequent the dark gullies and are t ' be heard' at daybreak and early evening, their notes clearly resembling the ringing «.< of bells or the ring of an anvil. Could you please tell me if I am in err and. if so, the name of the bird I havo ■; just -described ?—Yours faithfully, Bernie Kane, Manawahe, Matata.
