A STRING JAR
An ornamental string jar for the kitchen mantelpiece is easily made from an empty glass jam jar with a metal top and a little quick-drying enamel or lacquer. Tho metal top must bo given one or two coats of colour, and a simple design may bo stencilled on the jar itself. A ball of coloured string or, better still, a collection of short lengths of different thicknesses, neatly rolled up, may be placed inside. The advantago of a transparent jar for string is that tho kind required may be seen through the glass and easily picked out, •
