FIANCE ADOPTED
LONDON THEATRE OWNER Mrs. Violet Melnotte Wyatt—Violet Melnotte, the London theatre owner — who died several months ago, left £13,425. Among other bequests were legacies to three of the people who had worked for her at the Duke of York's Theatre—£loo to Mrs. Nellie Ridley, £SO to Henry Cohen and £IOO to Edgar Albert Chapman—and the residue between Archibald Patrick Melnotte Moore, the young manager of the theatre who became her adopted son, Nevill Gunning Wyatt and Paul Wyatt. In July, 1934, Miss Melnotte and Mr. Moore gave notice of • their intended marriage. She was then stated to be seventy-two, but always refused to tell her age, and when she died it was said she was eighty-two. Mr. Moore is in his early thirties. A fortnight later it was announced that they would not marry, but that Miss Melnotte was eoing to adopt Mr. Moore.
