FLOWER SHOWS

, JIT. ALBERT DISPLAY CHRYSANTHEMUM EXHIBITS DETAILS OF THE AWARDS Although the quality of the flowers and the colourful displays at the Chrysanthemum Show, organised by the Mount Albert Horticultural Society, which was opened yesterday at the King George Hall, was well up to the standard of previous shows, thero were considerably less entries. In spite of the adverse conditions, however, to which could be attributed the fall in entries, growers achieved most praiseworthy results. Most competition was found in the cut flower section, in which Mrs. V. Nutsford, with some particularly fine displays, won the points prize, while in the amateur section, Mr. 11. Sinclair, in winning 18 out of the 19 classes, displayed many outstanding blooms. Mr. R. Twentyman, of Thames, provided the champion of champions bloom with "The Melba," while other entries from this well-known grower, "Louisa Pockett," and "Mrs. E. Alston," added considerably to the fine display of colour and variety. The judges of the chrysanthemums were Mr. George Mills, Mr. A. W. Palmer and Mr. W. Dale, while Mr. F. Penn judged the cut flower section. Following are the awards:— CUPS AND TROPHIES K. W. "White Challenge Cud, points prize in open section.—A. Millar and A. Watts, equal. R.
