CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE MEETING IN WELLINGTON Details o f the arrangements for the 14th congress of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire, which is to be held in Wellington during October, were contained in a letter from the Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand received at a meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce council yesterday. The letter stated that the delegates with their wives would number about 200. A number would travel from Great Britain to Wellington direct by way of the Panama Canal, but the main party would come via Canada, reaching Auckland on the Aorangi on September 27. It was not known when, or at which port, the Australian delegates would arrive. Special trips, the letter added, would be arranged for those delegates travelling through Auckland, and they would all gather in Wellington on September A reception to the delegates weuld be held on October 1, and the congress would be opened the following day by tlie Governor-General, Viscount Gahvay. If he was in Wellington at the time the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, would address the congress. Speakers would include the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Hon. D. G. Sullivan, and the president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand, Mr. Norton Francis. In the afternoon the president of the federation, Viscount Elibank, would give his address, which would be followed by the election of committees and other formal business. ' Congress sessions would again be held on October 5, 6 and 7, the letter stated. A State luncheon would be held during Congress Week in addition to other entertainment which would be arranged by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and the Wellington chamber. Overseas visitors would leave Wellington for Lyttelton on October 7 on the commencement of an official tour of New Zealand which would occupy three weeks. The main body of visitors would sail from Wellington on October 30. The president. Mr. A. Ross, the vicepresident, Mr. W. R. Fee, Mr. A. G. Lunn and Dr. E. P Neale (secretary), were appointed to represent the chamber at the congress.
