NEW UNION COMPANY VESSEL FOR THE AUCKLAND-FIJI-TONGA-SAMOA RUN The Union Steam Ship Company's 3950-ton freighter Matua after the launching at Hebburn, England, on March 25. The vessel has been built specially for the Islands trade and will possess the most modern equipment and refrigeration system for the carriage of fruit. Passenger accommodation is provided. The Matua is expected to be ready for service about June and will be under the command of Captain A. H. Prosser.
