MEETING AT TAURANGA [by telegraph OWN correspondent] TAURANGA. Wednesday Over 70 members attended the annual meeting of the Western Bay of Plenty Returned Soldiers' Association at Tauranga, Mr. C. P. Carthcw presiding. The report stated that the membership was a record and was now 346, tho last report from headquarters showing the association as 19th on the membership ladder for New Zealand. Tho financial statement showed receipts and bank balance amounting to £630 and expenditure to £542, leaving a credit balance of £BB. The balancesheet showed the liabilities to be nil and the-assets £IOB. Tho election of officers, held by postal ballot, resulted as follows: — President, Mr. J. R. Bongard; vicepresidents, Messrs. G. P. Carthcw and A. Frires; secretary-treasurer, Air. P. G; Mcintosh; auditor, Mr. R. J. Gallagher; committee, Messrs. A. G. Judd, D. George, F. Cook, Wt O. Knight, H. Stevens, W. Norris, W. Parlane, R. J. Craig, W. Isles, T. R. Stewart, J. H. Armstrong and F. A. Eustace.
POPPY DAY APPEAL RESPONSE IN HAMILTON [jlY TELEGIIAPII —OWN COTtRF.SPONDE.VT] HAMILTON, Wednesday Ati excellent response was made in Hamilton yesterday to tho annual Poppy Day appeal. There was a large crowd in town, and a pro up of ladies organised by the Mayoress, Mrs. J. R. Fow, did a brisk business throughout the day. Sales totalled £225, compared with £2Ol realised last year. There are-still further sums to come in, while a Hamilton resident, Mr. I'\ W. Uurloy, gave an additional £IOO to the fund.
OFFICERS AT TE AROHA INCHEASK IN MKMIiKRSHI P [llY TEI.EfiRAPH OWN CORRESPONDENT) TE AROHA, Wednesday An increase in membership from 110 to 1-12 was shown in the president's report submitted to the annual meeting of the To Aroha Returned Soldiers' Association last night. The balancesheet showed that, in spite of heavy disbursements to distressed comrades, tho vear ended with a credit balance of £73.
The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. G. H. Nicholls; vicepresident, Mr. W. Horn; secretary, Mr. H. Carwardine; assistant secretary, Mr. L. Flatt; lion, treasurer, Mr. I/. Vif'kers; auditor, Mr. G. Lindsay; committee, Messrs. N. G. McLeod, A. 'J'. Nicol, W. Scott, L. C. Russell, 0. Jones, A. K. llinton, J. H. Lynch, J. Keightley, S. A. Martin and J. Loughlin.
