PREMIUM ON CHEESE
DAIRY COMPANIES' NEEDS DESIRE FOR STATEMENT [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION] PALMERSTON NORTH, Wednesday Dairy companies in Manawatu to-day decided to seek the co-operation of the Hawke's Bay, Bush and Wairarapa companies in an endeavour to ascertain from the Government whether it is intended to pay a premium on cheese. It was stated that unless a premium wero paid cheese companies were likely to discontinue, as the swing would be to butter. It was stated further that unless the dieese companies knew what was likely to happen they would bo unable to make tho necessary indents, and that suppliers equally wore anxious to know tho Government's decision on the point before the new season starts. It is intended to send a deputation to the Ministers of Agriculture and Financo.
