HEAVY-WEIGHT CONTEST SCHMELING TO MEET LOUIS (Received April 21, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 20 It is announced that Max Schmeling, former heavy-weight boxing champion, will meet Joe Louis in New York on June 18. Attempts to have the bout at the exhibition in San Diego, California, failed when the promoters demanded a guarantee of 1,000,000 dollars cash. BOXING AT ' SYDNEY AMERICAN WINS BOUT DEFEAT OF R. RICHARDS SYDNEY, April il At the Sydney Stadium last evening, in 15-round boxing bout, the American Martyn Simmons (list. 91b.) outpointed the Queenslander Ron Richards (list. 51b.). It was a hard-fought contest in which Simmons was consistently aggressive.
