Mrs. H. J. Davies, of Onehunga, loft last evening for New Plymouth. Mrs. Oscnr Bonk, of Takapuna, has returned from a holiday visit to Botorua. Mrs. H. P. Shaw has returned to Tauranga after having visited Auckland. Mrs. G. S. Kent, Fairfax Boad, Epsom, has returned from a visit to Botorua. Mrs. A. Wight anil Miss Ina Wight, of Devonport; are sj>ending a holiday in Wellington. Mrs. K. Buchanan, Hidings Boad, Bemuera, has returned from a holiday spent in Botorua. Mrs. Leslie Adams and Miss Mavis Adams, of Epsom, have returned from a holiday at Botorua.. Mrs. Ernest Harper and Mrs. Harold Owers left yesterday by motor-car on a visit to Botorua and Wairakei. Mrs. J. Or. Lockie and Miss Grace Lockie, of Northcote, left by train last evening to take up their residence at Greymouth. At the Central Hotel are:-r-Mrs. C. Stewart and Miss E. C. O'Donnor (Sydney), Miss J. Masters and Miss M. Akers (Palmerston North). Mrs. Boy Beardon and family have 1 returned to Taumarunui after a visit to the former's mother, Mrs. C. 13. Birchall, of Stanley Point. At the Station Hotel are:—Mrs. L. Leese (Ceylon), Mrs. G. Tucker and Miss M. Long (Palmerston North), Mrs. J. Pearson (Wellington) and Miss P. O'Grady (Omokoroa). Misses Gertrude and Una Granger, of Mount Albert, have arrived in London. and, after spending some weeks there, will leave on a visit to relatives in Nottingham and Birmingham. The weekly meeting of the Women's Progressive Club, Y.W.C.A., was held last week. Mrs. M. Wallace gave a talk on "Woman, Their Influence and Mission." A discussion on various remits to be presented to the National Council pf Women took place. Mrs. C. J. Dickinson will leave Auckland on April 30 for Wellington where she will join the Tainui for England. Mrs. Dickinson expects to be away until about the end of the year and will probably return via Singapore, so that she can visit her son who is at present stationed there. The monthly meeting of the Takapuna branch of the League of Mothers was held on Monday in the Memorial Hall at Takapuna, Mrs. Thompson presiding in the absence of the president, Mrs. Bevnolds. An interesting talk was given by Dr. Parr, entitled "Inside relations between China and Japan." The hostesses were Mesdams Crompton, Sinclair, Stewart and Darlow. A reunion of the Thames Girls' Club was held last week in the Druids' Hall, Newton. A broadcast entertainment, was enjoyed, the announcer being Mr. Woollev and the accompanist Mrs. Payne Committee members present were:— Mrs. H. Stubbing, convener, Mrs. H Thorburn, treasurer. Mrs. W. S. Miller, secretary, Mesdames I. Wright, O. Benjamin, F. Nicholls, Andrews, McPherson, Davison, Miss Bowlings, and Miss Marion MacLeod. Members of the Unitarian Church choir entertained their friends _at a very pleasant social evening held in the hall in Ponsonby Boad. A varied programme of games, music arid dances was presented. Prizes were won by Misses Clough and Gooch and Mr. L. Greendale. Among those present were Mesdames Watkins and Doherty, Misses Blakey, Clough, Hoskins, Jellie, Gooch, Pinson and Whittaker.
