The balance-sheet showed that the 1935 season commenced with a debit of £2 and a liability of £2O to the insurance fund, and ended with a credit balance of £'6s, which included a liability of £.'3o to the insurance fund.. The receipts for the year included £99 registration fees and £47 affiliation fees. The election of officers resulted as follows Patron, Mr. A. E, Harding; president, Mr. L. J. A notice of motion by the Whaneajoa. Sub-Union that all players in the Cadbury. Fry, Hudson Shield Challenge matches must play without boots or sandshoes, and no boy must exceed Bst 7lb at the date of playing his first shield match of the season, nor must he be over 14 years of age on January 1, was carried. Considerable discussion arose concerning the system of zoning introduced last year, whereby the North Auckland territory was zoned into a northern zon© and. a southern zone, for the playing of Harding and Brake Shield matches. The Hokiaxuta SubUnion. in a letter. b protested strongly against any change being made* "this at least. The sub-union contended that the northern zone was this year entitled to the principal Harding Shield match, as last year it had been played in the southern zone. Any change in the system should not be until after this playing season. We have a strong feeling that certain business and parochial interests are endeavouring to make use of the union, said th-e Mr." Brake said he could not airree that any outside interests had t ever influenced the union from giving fair treatment to 6ub-unions. ~ ... ~ It was decided to continue with the existing zoning system. SOUTHERN TOUR PROPOSED SHIELD. CHALLENGE POSSIBLE [by telegraph —own correspondent],; WHANGAREI, Tuesday "A North Auckland representative team has never, in the history of football in the North, played before New Zealand selectors, and a tour such as I propose would be, I am sure, one of the finest advertisements the North could have." said the president, Mr L. J. Brake, at the annual meeting of the North Auckland Rugby Union, when the question of again challenging for the Ranfurly Shield, held by Otago, was being discussed. . . v-. . * j "What I have in mmd is a tour of two or three weeks, playing matches against Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury. South Canterbury, Otagcyfnd possibly Southland said Mr. Brake. ''Such a tour would require about £4OO more to be found, but L am confident that. North Auckland business Deople -would assist financially. It is- surprising how little people in the south know of North Auckland, and I am sure such a tour would open the eyes of those people who imagine the J*orth ( is only a land of k ofLfdolSl?C& in rawrt < 'tb. v scheme, and "it was left witli Mr. Brake to . gain more information and report at a later meeting of the union. PUKEKOHE REFEREES [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Tuesday That the past season had in some ways been a most difficult one was referred to by the president, Mr. H. Pleydell, at the annual meeting of the Pukekohe Rugby Keferees' Association. This was due mainly to unfortunate events which occurred in the Franklin Union's territory. Several members had been grossly insulted, and it was found necessary to take drastic stepsin order to protect them from unseemly and unappreciative outbursts. Apart from this, the association had had a successful season. One of the most pleasing features had been the members' sense of loyalty to each other. For the first time in many years there were more active referees than were required each Saturday. The balance-shett showed a small loss on the year's operations. The following officers were elected:—President, Mr. H. Pleydell: vice-presidents. Messrs. C. Lauer, J. Reynolds; secretary and treasurer, Mr. L, K. Brown; delegatei to Pukekohe Rugby Union, Mr. L. K. ' MORRINSVILLE UNION [from our own correspondent] - MORRINSVILLE, Tuesday A special meeting of the management committee of the Morrinsville Rugby Union was held last night to consider an application for the admittance of Kiwitahi as a senior team. It has been usual for the union to confine its senior championship competition to four teams, and the inclusion of the new team would make five, necessitating a bye. The committee decided to call a general meeting of the union and to recommend the admittance of the new club to senior 6tatus.
