Representatives of the Borough Council, County Council, Harbour Board, Power Board, Hospital Board and Drainage Board will taka part iu the conference, which will be purely exploratory. The delegates will not be expected to deal in detail with the elfects of amalgamation, but all the local bodies in Wairoa which have been approached have displayed interest in the subject from the technical point of view. • It is proposed to advance the roundtable discussion at to-morrow's conference to a point at which delegates can decide whether an invitation to the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, to visit Wairoa is -justified. Should the conference disclose a general willingness to take a further step toward amalgamation, the Minister will be asked to come to Wairoa to meet representatives of the local bodies and hear their views upon the question as a whole.
