i AUCKLAND EXCHANGE : industrial shares popular - There was/an improved tono in tho ■investment, market on tho Auckland igtock Exchange yesterday. Bank of New Zealands 'opened with n sale 3d lower at 46s 9d, ifcut later returned to 475. the closing ■' rice before the holidays. Iho D Mortgage issue was transferred 2d higher at 2Ss 2d. English, Scottish and Australians gained 2s Gd on tho last transfer a month ago. Taupiri Coal was taken 3d higher at }6s while, current level sales were raade in Devon port Ferry and Kauri Timber. National Timbers recovered to 'sell 6d higher at 14s. New Zealand Breweries failed to maintain Monday's rise and fell back 3d to 525. A large number of sales took place in the miscellaneous section. Australian Glass were stronger and a transaction at 83s 3d established a rise of Is. Dun-lop-Perdriau advanced 6d to 14s 6d. Following weakness on southern exchanges, Electrolytic Zinc, preference, were secured Is cheaper at 40s. A recovery was made in Farmers' Trading shares, which rose Id to sell nt the previous high rate of 9s sd. 'Grey and Menzies dropped back 3d to lis 6d on the last sale in February. Morris Hedstroms were sought and after a current level transfer moved up Id to 25s 7d. New Zealand Drug gained [id to sell at 75s 9d. There was a firming in New Zealand Newspapers, gales at 42s and 42s Gd, making increases of 3s 6d and 4s respectively. Union Oil regained some of Monday's loss, selling 6d dearer at 29s 6d. Wilsons Cement' sold again at recent improved rates.
