DEATH IN HOSPITAL
COLLAPSE OF PATIENT A verdict that death was due to degeneration of the heart, accelerated by the administration of an anaesthetic, which was administered with all due rare, was returned by Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., coroner, at an inquest yesterday into the death of Ernest Martin Heap, who died under an anaesthetic at the Auckland Hospital on March 16. • Evidence was given that deceased, who was a labourer, 51 years of age, employed at the Hobsonville Air Base, entered the hospital to have several teeth extracted. His heart had been in bad condition for several years, but his condition was considered satisfactory prior to the anaesthetic being administered.
