LYCEUM LITERARY CIRCLE

A short meeting was held on Friday of the Lyceum Literary Circle, the subject for the evening being "Original Writings." Mrs. K. E. Cowie read an idyll sketch of tho Pacific, " Pilstaff, the Isle of Tragedy," a fatalistic sketch of native life. Miss Martyn had written two poems for the occasion, "Autumn" and " The Tui," both studies in New Zealand scenery. Miss Margaret A. Parker read her description of Max Reinhardt's production of " The Miracle Play " at Olympia, London, in pre-war times, also her second published story, a Dickensian burlesque pertaining to Pickwick.
