THAMES COUNTY WORK
ROAD METALLINQ QUESTION [by telegrafh—owx correspondent] THAMES, Monday The Minister of Public Works, Mr. R. Semple received earlier in the year from Mr. J. Thorn, M.P. for Thames, a programme of developmental works in the Thames County. Mr. Somple has V stated in a letter that the proposal that * tho Kauaeranga-Tairua road should be metalled had been considered by him. " On the information that I fcave had.'" before me," stated the Minister's letter, " I have come to the conclusion--that tho construction and metalling of this road will eventually be necessary, but that at the moment it is considered a little premature. In the circumstances, it seems that it should be deferred such time as some of tho county's more urgent works have been attended to." The discussion of all county proposals on the next Estimates, concluded Mr. Semple, should give a fair indication as to the real position of this work alongside others in the county.
