Gnine Carrington wns sold to a Queenslander for GuOgns. Tho stallion Ifcbrus, by Devizes from Chersonese, and a half-brother to Heroic, also was bought by a Queenslander, for 700gns. Kuvera was passed in at 500gns., and Cuba list at Ol'agns. Tho two-year-old Excitement filly Illnwarra brought 550gns. Tho New Zealand Estate and Land Company bought tho stallion Bold and Gay, by Bold and Bad, from La Touclio, lor 'JUgns., on approval, and tho stallion Euripides, by Crowdonnis from Queen Comedy, for loOgns. The brood mares Cream Jug (Limond —Catalani), and lfelensbrook (Limond —Oreuin), were sold for (iOgns. and 200gns. respectivelv. Tho 1934 Sydney Cup winner Broad Arrow, who broke down during the running of this year's cup, has been permanently retired from racing. April 20 In reviewing the autumn racing carnival at Bandwick, the Sydney Morning Herald says: "Tho striking feature was the success of New Zealand gallopers. Cuddle gave remarkable and generally unexpected displays. She was regarded mostly as a stayer, and she proved herself a sprinter of class. Her victory in tho Doncaster Handicap was one of tho most clean cut and pleasing that has been witnessed at Bandwick, and her success in the All-aged Stakes not only emphasised the form, but enhanced her reputation as a versatile galloper to a marked degree. "Silver Bing returned with the object of showing Sydney racegoers tho outstanding stamina ho had developed since his previous visit. He did this in a most pronounced manner. Of the £32,525 distributed in prize-money, £5300 goes to tho Dominion as a result of the brilliant and consistent performances of Cuddle and Silver Ring." The Sydney Morning Herald also refers to M. McCarten's success in tho saddle, including winning the Doncaster Handicap and Sydney Cup, and to the performance of tho ex-New Zealand trainer G. Price in sharing honours with B. Pavten, each of whom had three winners, Price's being Cuddle (twice) and tho New Zealand-bred colt Gold Bod. Pnyten's winners were Fidelity, Hadrian and Salamander. The Herald adds: "Among young horses, the most encouraging displays, from a staying point of view, were given by Egmont and Salamander. Egmont, a New Zealand-bred colt, fought on eallantly against a more experienced rival in Contact in the Sydney Cup."

Ho gave indications then of developing into a stayer anrl further to prospect his possibilities in that direction, he was started in the Addington Handicap, nine furlongs, in preference to the Gitncrack Handicap, six furlongs, on the second day of the Riccarton Easter meeting. Although ho was comfortably beaten by tho rejuvenated Execution he beat the rest of the field, and his trial over a middle distance is to bo regarded as satisfactory. Ponty is a four-vear-old gelding by Rosetior from Sporting Girl, by Kilrain, a Wellington Cup winner.

Treasure Bond sprinted the last four furlongs at a 2.]() gait. Roekella gavo a good display without being pressed, showing fine speed in a sharp run home. Silk Cord ran the last three furlongs of a mile at a 2.1G gait and Allworthv accomplished a similar task. Rare Hey, who is improving with racing, worked a useful two miles and Trevor do Oro sprinted fast for a few furlongs. Epilogue pleased in a sound task of two miles, with Gnymond, and she is improving all the time. Travisque, who won at Wanganui, paced freely, while Lucky Rose gave an improved display of trotting over a mile and a-half. Strong work was given Our McKinnoy, who is doing bettor than when at Wanganui. Rayon d'Or, looking none tho worse for his hard races, moved freely. Muriel Bond showed speed in a sharp sprint. Baron Alfonso, who is settling down again, worked a steady two miles, staying on well at the finish. Winshow was sprinted and is showing signs of returning form. Ileal Pal, who is improving with each race, gave a good unhoppled display. Waving Corn pleased in a sprint and Roadster also went well. Native Tree hit out over two laps, but did not appear to be staying on. R. Donald, who drove Reno, Carus, Blondio and Celebrity on Saturday, has returned to Christchurch, and C. S. Donald arrives to-morrow to drive the horses on Wednesday.
