AUTHORS' WEEK
EXHIBITION OF BOOKS VARIOUS LECTURES ARRANGED A large consignment of hooks has been received from English and New Zealand publishers for display in connection with Authors' Week, in the exhibition room of thp Art Gallery, commencing next Monday. The staff of the Auckland Library is making a selection? of the New Zealand literary treasures in its possession, and the rare and valuable books which have been brought together should prove most interesting.
Lectures will be delivered during each afternoon and evening of Authors' Week, each lecture dealing with an aspect of New Zealand literature The speakers will be as follows:—Professor W A Sewell (Katherrjie Mansfield), Mr. A B. Chappell (New Zealand Historians), Mrs. Carr llollett (Plant Literature in New Zealand). Mrs. I. M. Cluett (New Zealand Children's Literature), Miss hlsie K. Morton (Scenery in New Zealand Literature), Mr. D. W. Faigan (New Zealand Short Stories), Mr. J. W. Shaw (New Zealand Drama), Mr. A R. 1) Fail-burn (New Zealand Poets), Mr. It. A. Singer (Auckland Authors). Mr. R. A. Falla (Whaling Literature). Air. R. A. K. Mason (Future of New Zealand Literature), Dr. W. E. Dale (The Maori in Literature), Mrs. Wilson Wilson (Pre-war Novelists), and Miss J. Mander (Post-war Novelists). Songs by New Zealand composers will be given in the interval between lectures. Iwo plays, by Miss Kathleen Colliding and Mr. J. Coppard, will be presented on Thursday, April 30, in the Workers' Educational Association's Hall, Symonds Street.
