SWISS FRONTIER

GERMAN ACTIVITY MOVEMENTS OF TROOPS 'AN AEROPLANE CRASHES SUSPICIONS AROUSED By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received April 19. 7.15 p.m.) LONDON, April 18 The Sun-Herald news service says there is disquiet in Switzerland as the result of reports of the movements of German troops near the Swiss frontier. The Manchester Guardian says the Swiss authorities are seriously perturbed over an incident which occurred recently when German war materials, disguised as ordinary goods, were consigned from Constance to Lorrach by railway through Swiss territory.

Customs officials detected the contents and sent the trucks back. The Swiss Federal police at present are investigating the crash of a German military aeroplane last night. The machine struck a peak near Orvin in n snowstorm.

The pilot and mechanic were killed and three passengers in full military uniform were flung out and injured, one fatally. The survivors refused to answer questions.

The German Air Ministry asserts that the aeroplane was off its route as the result of a faulty compass. However, the Geneva correspondent of the Daily Herald says the Swiss authorities are suspicious because when first they informed the Munich aerodrome of the crash German officials gave an identification number which differed from that of the wrecked machine.
