WRESTLING
POSITION OF WHANGAREI [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Sunday The president, Mr. H. Scally, reported fo the annual meeting of the Northern Sporting Club, that it has secured affiliation with the National Sporting Club, Wellington, and that Whangarei will be placed on the circuit of the National Sporting Club. It is hoped to arrange fortnightly bouts between overseas wrestlers at the Town Hall, Whangarei. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr. A. J. Murdoch; president. Mr. H. Scally; vice-presidents, Messrs. H. Rusk. E. R. Stainton. J. French, C. A. Doel. A. R. Benjamin, G. Dryburgh. Fattier Mcßreen; acting secretary and treasurer. Mr. A. R. Benjamin; referee for professional and amateur bouts. Mr. J. P. Woods; announcer, Mr G. Reid; gong steward, Mr. S. Boreham; call steward. Mr. H. J. Buckley; club captain. Mr. D. Wise; honorary medical officers, Drs. D. J. Goodwin, H. A, Good, D. F. Armstrong; auditor. Mr. L. O. Hall; committee. Messrs. H. Scally (chairman), D. Wise, L. Ball. A. R. Benjamin, O. Trewella Steps were taken toward furthering the interests of amateur wrestling in North Auckland. Amateurs will be catered for in the tournaments and portions of the proceeds will be set aside for encouraging this branch of the sport.
