RIFLE SHOOTING
CONTESTS AT WHAKATANE [from our own correspondent] WHAKATANE, Sunday The sixth and final McCracken and President's Cup shoots were fired off on the White Pine Bush range yeßterday afternoon. Both cups were won by A. J. Oxenham, and the day's shoot for the miniature cup was won by J. Rand. The lending points gained in tho McCracken Cup were:— A. J. Oxenham, 9; E. W. Newton, 7; J. Hand, 6; M. McFarlnnd, H. J. Hand, G. L. Burnett, E. Law, H. Brabant, 3.
The president's aggregate pointe cup resulted:—A. J. Oxenham, 293; E. W. Newton, 290; J. Rand, 282j H. G. Rand, 272. The weather yesterday was dull, with a light breeze. The final shoot results were: J. Rand, 7 shots at 200 yds. 25, 7 shots at 500 yds, 34, handicap, 9, total. 68; E. W. Newton, 33, 29, scr—62; A. J. Oxenham, 2D. 31. 2—62; H. G. Rand, 20. 26, 10—62; W. McFarland, 27, 29, 3—59; T. London, 24, 27, scr—sl.
