OBITUARY
SIR T. K. MURRAY PROMINENT SOUTH AFRICAN* (Received April 13, 5.5 p.m.) PIETERMARITZBURCt. April 12 The death has occurred of Sir Thomas Keir Murray. The lato Sir TJiomas Murray, who was born in Natal in 1854, served as a volunteer during tho Langabalele, Zulu and Boer wars. He raised and commanded Murray's Horso and Murray's Scouts, was chief intelligence officer on the staff of Generals Clery and Bulkr, and general superintendent of the Burgher camps, Natal, receiving the thanks of Lord Milner. Sir Thomas was Minister of Lands and Works in Sir John Robinson's Ministry, Colonial Secretary in Mr. Harry ICscombe's Cabinet, and a member of the Assembly 1886-1902. He represented Natal at the Royal opening of the Australian Parliament in 1901. He was a member of various commissions, chairman of the board of arbitrators on defective surveys, director of the Natal Bank and various companies, also president of the Agricultural Society. Sir Thomas was a patron of Rugby football, tennis and cricket.
