SURF DISPUTE
Sydney, the home of surfing, is having a dispute which affects every member of her many surf clube. The Amateur Swimming Union of Australia has ruled that paid stirf-gunrds must not compete against amateur swimmers in surf races. If they do, amateurs will forfeit their status. Water polo players are also affected. When the senior surf championship of the Bondi Club carnival was hold last month the ban had the effect of reducing the number of competitor# from 27 to eight.
