ALLEGED ASSAULT
CHINESE INJURED ' YOUNG MAN CHARGED Charged with assaulting Juen Hing at Panmure on April 11, so as to cause bodily harm, Robert William Carter, aged 23, appeared before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday morning. Accused, for whom Mr. Hall Skelton appeared, was remanded until Monday on the application of Sub-Inspector Fox, who stated that the alleged assault was committed on a Chinese, who had to have five stitches inserted in his head. The injured man, however, was not likely to suffer any complications, and later the charge would probably be reduced to one of common assault. Counsel, who applied for bail, said there was evidence to show that the Chinese .had used a knife. "I cannot go into the matter now," said the magistrate in fixing bail at £2O, with a surety of £2O.
