KING'S FIRST LEVEE
SCENE IN THRONE ROOM [FROM OUB OWN correspondent] LONDON. March 21 , The King held the first levee of his j reign at Buckingham Palace on March 18. It was the first levee to be held at the Palace for six years. It would have taken place at St. James' but fof the League Council meeting there. Wearing the scarlet ana gold fulidress uniform of colonel-in-chief or the Brigade of Guards, the King stood on the golden throne dais in the white ana gold throne room. More than 500 prej sentations were made. In the RoJ 3 ' circle were the Duke of York and Duke of Kent, both in naval uniforms. In accordance with custom, the levee was mainly diplomatic. Several mem* bers of the foreign delegations to the League Council meetings were aroong , those presented. Lord Bledisioe and High Commissioner for New Zealand, Sir James Parr, attended. The la.ter presented Captain Douglas Maxwell, New Zealand Staff Corps.
