BRUTAL CRIME
DEAD IN A BATE NEW YORK AUTHORESS MURDERED AFTER STRUGGLE By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received April 12. 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK. April 11 The murder of Mrs. Nancy Titterton, a well-known writer of juvenile stories under the nom de plume of Nancy Evans, was discovered today. Her body was found in the bath in her apartment in Beekman Place, an exclusive residential section of New York, late this afternoon. The police state that Mrs. Titterton was garrotted with a silk pyjama cord. Her clothes were torn to shreds and the condition of the apartment and its furnishings showed that she had had a terrilic struggle for life. The dead woman's husband, Mr. Lewis Titterton, a radio executive, formerly a journalist, was at his office all day and could give the police no clue to the possible identity of the murderer. Mrs. Titterton was described by friends as a strikingly handsome brunette, aged 34, who was prominent in New York literary circles. She was born in the United States. Mr. Titterton was born near York, England, in 1900, and is a graduate of Cambridge University.
