YIELDS OF COMPANIES Mataki Junction (Murchison). —Last week, 520z. for 9500 yards. The dredge •worked only SO hours for the week, closing down on Thursday for the Easter holidays. Argo Gold Dredging (West Coast, South Island).—Booz. for 135 hours and 13,000 vards. Worksop (West Coast).—27oz. for 136 hours and 10,500 yards. Mossy Creek (West Coast). —No return owing to the Easter holidays. CHARLESTON AFFAIRS A proposal to wind up voluntarily the Charleston Sluicing Company, Limited, will ho considered at an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders" which will be held at Christchurch next Friday. The company was formed in 1933 to sluice an area at Croninville, near Westport. It has a nominal capital of £12,125 in shares of Is each, paid to £10,(525. Its output for the past three years has been as follows: —1933, 890z., valued at £558; 1934, 3980z., valued at £274G; 1935, 2340z., valued at £l7lO. The balance-sheet as at December 31, 1935, showed an accumulated loss of £1212. REPORTS OF MANAGERS Talisman Dubbo (Kaiangnhake).—Tnlismtm No. 2 level: The drive south advanced 21ft. through country rock, total 033 ft. At G27ft. the ond of the old dnvo and stopes of the former company appear and the drive is now advancing on the lode formation about 20in. wide, consisting of fragments of quurtz, clay and rubble, with a well defined hanging wall. No work has been previously dono on this section of the lode. Talisman No. 1 level: Stoping—Ore was obtained from the stopes 70ft. above the level, from 120 ft. south to 145 ft south of the main rise. The average width of the lode is 3Sin. of fair value. Dubbo level: Sloping—Ore broken for the week ended March 28 gave the following results: From 200 ft. to 2iioft. north, width 2Gin., of very pood value. At 305 ft. the lode is 9in. wide of high value. From 305 ft. to 330 ft. noith average width 13in., of very good value The intermediate drive from the north end of the stopo is now 425 ft., where the lode is 30in. wide of good value. A rise at 440 ft. north is being put up to gain access to the now make of ore found in the intermediate level at 135 ft. above tho Dubbo level. This rise, which is up 35ft. above the level, is in lode formation showing small veins of quartz. The stopes at 000 ft. north produced very little quartz, the average width being 17in. and thd value very good. Mataki (Murchison).—-Last week the dredge worked on a face of 430 ft., with an average depth of lGft. All machinery is working well. The ground in very blmllow in the bank and wo have been lifting 4ft. of pug. The river beach is looking better, but the gold is light nnd scaly. Alexander (Reefton) for March.—No. 4 intermediate north drive: Face driven to a point 92ft. north of winze. Stone varying in width from 2ft. to 4ft. has been driven on, the face showing reef averaging 2ft. Gin. in width. Gold has been showing freely in the last 15ft. driven. No. 4 intermediate south: The position of this face is now 40ft. south of -the winze. The drive lias passed through the reef on this end, the face showing reef track only. The length <sf this block developed lo date is 132 ft. No. 5 north crosscut: Crosscutting continued until a point east of the main level was reached. From 23ft. to 2Sft. in, a reef track wns passed through which gave gold in every sample taken and carries smnll bands of atone nnd quartz grit. This being the most important development encountered in this level it was decided to turn the north level eastward and drive on this line. The main drive wns turned nnd at 37ft. passed through slono nnd reef track 4ft. wide between walls. This appears to be the south end of the McVicar block, but further driving requires to be carried out before it can be definitely stated that this is so. The stone is highly mineralised and carries a big How of water. Stoping: Stoping has been carried out in the leading stope on the south side' of No. 4 winze. The lode has improved in size, being from 3ft. fiin. to sft. in width. Battery: No. clean up took place; 170 tons have been broken and sent to the battery. The mill is now running two shifts.
