FAREWELL GATHERING
There was a large gathering in the Opotiki Methodist Church when members of the congregation and friends met to farewell the Rev. and Mrs. G. H. Petersen, who are about to leave on transfer to Taumarunui. Mr. W. N. Rowe presided and an enjoyable programme of musical items was given, those contributing being Mrs. Griffiths, Miss Sydenham, Miss Airoy and Messrs. Semple, Reeves, Hilford and Steele. Accompaniments were played by Mrs. Hambly and Mrs. Hilford. Speeches were made by Rev. C. G. Salt, Rev. A. C. Hampton and Lieutenant Gower. Mr. Rowe, on behalf of the members of the congregation, presented Mr. and Mrs. Petersen with a packet of bank notes and a presentation was made to Mrs. Petersen on behalf of the ladies' guild.
