HAMILTON TJNION PROSPECTS FOR NEW SEASON INTER-TOWN CLUB PLAY [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Friday The lack of public support given to the Hamilton Rugby Union's fixtures last year was attributed by the president, Mr. A. E. Gibbons, to the indifferent weather experienced and to broadcasting, according to a statement he made at the annual meeting of the union. Mr. Gibbons said the prospects for the coming season were good. A successful carnival had helped the union to gain a satisfactory financial position and had promoted the social, side of the game. A modified form of the Taranaki inter-town scheme of fixtures would be adopted this year, and better -public patronage was expected. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. T. Clarkin; president, Mr. E. J. L. Whiting; vice-presidents, Messrs. P. Kelly, H. G. Carter; management committee, Messrs, A. St. C. Belcher, A. iE. Gibbons, C. G. Hunt, F. Buckingham, F. Lynch, J. R. Fitzgerald; treasurer, Mr. C. G. Speight; secretary, Mr. T. W. Thompson. It was decided to adopt the Taranaki scheme. Delegates were instructed to ask for the dispensation of ths amended rules.
