SECOND OFFENCE IN WEEK THREE MONTHS' IMPRISONMENT ' t ■■ [ For the second time within four days David Western Mcintosh, aged 44, a labourer, of/Morrinsville, a'ppeardd at the Otahuhu Police Court on a charge of being found intoxicated while in charge of a motor Vehicle. Accused, who appeared Messrs. R. B. s"odd and S. Rickards, J.P.'s, on Thursday, was also charged with, failing to comply with a. prohibition, order and having no driver's licence.". He pleaded guilty. ' Sergeant J. Cahill said accused_ had been arrested by Constable Archibald on the main road at Otahuhu on Wednesday morning. * He was in a bad state of intoxication. Oil the previous .Monday Mcintosh had been arrested on a similar charge at Otahuhu and had been fined £.3 and*hip licence cancelled for six months. Sergeant Cahill said.accused had explained his second offence by stating •he had been asked to return a motor vehicle to Auckland and he had obtained the assistance of another man, who had left him at Otahuhu. There had been no intention to defy the Court. , "This type of man is a menace to the public," observed the Bench, when informed that accused had 15 previous convictions, two being on charges of intoxication while in charge of a motor vehiclfe.
