COST OF LIVING INDEX
REVISION IN BRITAIN WIDE INQUIRY NECESSARY (Received April 8, C.5 p.m.) British Wireless RTJGBY. April 7 The Minister of Labour, Mr. Ernest Brown, announced,to-day in the House of Commons that a revision of the basis of the Ministry's cost of living index number, in relation to which wage adjustments are made over a wide field of industry, is to be undertaken. The comprehensive inquiry necessary could not be completed before the end of 1937, and until then the index would continue to be calculated on the existing bac&s.
