NOVEL SPORTING WAGER
Victoria seems to bo the home of novel wagers. Two young factory hands. Frank McDonald and Walter Cameron, had a race from Ferntree Gully to Melbourne, about 2.'3 miles, on a recent Sunday Cameron, height oft. 6in., said his short legs would be better over a long distance than the long legs of McDonald, height Gft. sin. The bet was far 30s. Both arrived at Oakleigli, 10 miles from tho finish, together. Then McDonald's long legs refused to function further, and Cameron finished the course to win the bet.
