EASTER HOLIDAYS
A LONG WEEK-END WIDE RANGE OF FIXTURES * RACING AT ELLERSLIE Aucklanders will have numerous opportunities of celebrating the close of summer, as an exceptionally wide range of sporting attractions will be held during the Easter holidays. In addition to organised functions, the various beach, bush and scenic resorts will provide further playgrounds for workers, who will have the benefit of a particularly long week-end.
The principal fixture will be tho Auckland Racing Club's Autumn Meeting at Ellorslie on Saturday and Monday. Good fields have been entered, and a high standard of racing should be'witnessed. The main, event on Saturday will bo the Easter Handicap, while that on the second* day will be the H. 0. Nolan Handicap. Thousands of children from Auckland primary sohools will meet to-day at the Domain for their annual sports meeting. This evening the annual yacht race to Coromandel for keelers and centreboard- boats over 20ft. in length will start from King's Wharf. The annual Easter tournament of the Auckland Bowling Centre will commence to-morrow, when tho Auckland Lawn Tennis Association's annual hard court championship tournament also will begin. Several important events have been set down for Saturday, including the Auckland provincial golf championship at Titirangi. There will also bo golf tournaments at several Auckland clubs. At Eden Park a twodays' representative cricket match between Auckland and North Auckland will be commenced on Saturday.
Several of these events will be continued on Monday, when there will also bo sports meetings in various provincial centres. Splendid programmes will be presented at the theatres, special matinees being given in addition to the evening performances. On Menday evening there will be a wrestling match at the Town Hall between Harry Kent and Earl McCready.
