FEANKTON QUOTATIONS FAT SHEEP IN DEMAND OVER-SUPPLY OF BEEF [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] HAMILTON, Tuesday There was a medium yarding of fat sheep at the Frankton saleyards today, well-finished wethers being in good supply. Competition was keen throughout, the market showing a slight advance upon recent improved rates.

A good demand existed for fat ewes, and quotations became firmer as the sale progressed. Fat lambs came forward in large numbers, exporters operating freely at schedule rales. Buyers were offered a full yarding of good-quality vealers and runners, price 3 being firm. There was an exceptionally heavy entry of cow and heifer beef, and values were easier. Secondquality and boner cows showed little variation. Fat pigs were again in full supply, together with a good entry of stores and weaners. Competition was keen and prices improved. Stores and weaners, although still at a low figure, showed an upward tendency. The auctioneers report as follows :

RATES AT CAMBRIDGE .Reporting on its stock sale held at Cambridge on Monday, the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, states that in the cattle section heavy beef cows were in short supply. Medium fat Jerseys, stores and boners, however, were entered in heavy numbers. There was less interest in gooci to heavy fat cows than at recent sales. The difference from former levels was only slight, and very little remained unsold. Boners maintained current rates, while a number of pens of mostly medium Jersey heifers, in calf, sold quito readily. There was no change for a few potter bulls.
