NEXT AUCKLAND MATCH PLUTO TO MEET MUDGWAY DEFEAT OF AMBROSE PALMER The Auckland Boxing Association is doing its best to cater for its patrons, as no opportunity is lost in an endeavour to arrange the best possible matches. Its latest effort has resulted in the matching of Cyril Pluto and Neville Mudgway. Pluto, who is welter and middle-weight champion of Western Australia, arrived last Saturday by the Monterey, and he comes with an excellent reputation.

Mudgway created a very favourable impression when he recently defeated Jack McMahon at the Town Hall. The contest between Pluto and Mudgway 011 April 18 should prove most interesting as it will afford spectators an opportunity of judging the standard in the two countries.

The defeat of Ambrose Palmer by the American negro, Leo Kelly, at the Sydney Stadium on Monday night came as just as big a surprise to New Zealanders as to the Australian boxing public. It would appear that Kelly's victory was due to the fact that his opponent's vision was badly obscured by the blood which poured from the cuts inflicted near both eyes. The result of these blows was that Palmer was more or less at the mercy of the negro in rounds subsequent to the eighth, in which he sustained his first injury.
