NEW KEEL YACHTS

TWO UNDER CONSTRUCTION Two keel yachts are in tho course of construction at the yards of Messrs. Lidgard Brothers, of Freeman's Bay. Both are 26ft. by Bft., one being for Mr. C. Freeman and tho other for Mr. A. Crawford. The boats have spoon bows and short overhangs aft. A third keel yacht, to the order of Mr. W. Sawbridge, and similar to the boats mentioned, was delivered by Messrs. Lidgard Brothers on Saturday. A start will be made at an early date on a 22ft. by 9ft. L class boat for Mr. S. Naismith. Good progress is being made by Mr. P. Vos on tho 45ft. by 13ft. by 7ft. ketch, which he is building for Mr. Mills Palmer, of Auckland. This craft, which is to bo used for off-shore cruising, will have three skins and six tons of lead on her keel. The main cabin will bo 10ft. in length, the owner's private cabin 7ft. and tho forecastle 9ft. 6in. She will have a flush deck and full headroom throughout. The motive power will be a 30 h.p. Ail*a Craig Diesel engine, and provision is made for 120 gallons of fuel and 150 gallons of water. The ketch will be Bermudan rigged. The racing season will bo suspended next Saturday owing to tho Easter holidays and on the following Saturday it will be officially closed by tho Auckland Yacht and Motor-Boat Association with combined harbour and cruising races. There will bo no racing on Anzac Day, but a week later, May 2, several clubs will hold harbour races.
