ABOLISHING POVERTY
PETITION TO THE KING Acting on behalf of the New Zealand branch of the League for the Abolition of Poverty, General Sir Andrew Russell holies to present a petition containing over 50,000 names to the King. Sir Andrew will leave for Lngland today by the Australia Star, accompanied bv'l.adv Russell. The league, which is Empire-wide in its scope, has as its object the obtaining of 10.000.000 signatures to petitions to His Majestj. In these His Majesty will be asked, in view of widespread poverty, to make such adjustments to the financial system as may bo recommended by a judicial committee which shall be appointed for tho purpose.
