FINANCE AND COMPETITIONS [by telegraph OWN correspondent] PAEROA, Monday The balance-sheet presented at the annual meeting of the Thames Valley Rugby Union at Paeroa showed a small debit balance. The debit balance had been reduced by £43 during the year. Assets were assessed at i!'2oo. After considerable discussion on the detrimental effect of the broadcasting of city games on country football, a resolution was carried instructing the union's delegate to • upport a remit at the New Zealand Union's meeting, " That all broadcasting fees be paid to the New Zealand Union and that the fees be divided among the country unions." It was decided to make the union's interunion competition for the Frank Poland Memorial Cup a straight-out contest, when each union 'would play each of the other unions. To support school footbnll an effort is to be made to hold the annual Roller Mill Cup contest in the district, and an appeal for financial assistance to defray expenses is to be made to the New Zealand Union.
