YEHUDI MENUHIN'S SUCCESS
ENGLAND AND THE CONTINENT Yeliudi Menuhin, whose violin playing was tho sensation of last year's musical season in New Zealand, has been playing on the Continent with tremendous success, making appearances in Paris, Madrid and Barcelona.
Paris concerts at the Sallo Pleyel included a sonata programme, when he played works by Brahms, Cesar Franck and Lnesco. In Barcelona ho was hailed as '' The Prodigy of Yesterday, the Genius of To-day." British critics, too, have hailed his amazing maturity and his " manly playing of manly music." Ho made' a big appearance at the Royal Albert Hall on his return from his world tour, playing concertos by Mozart and Max Brueh and a Bach sonata, as well as smaller works.
Referring to tho performance of the Bach (the unaccompanied sonata in G Minor) tho London Daily Telegraph critic said: " It was a man's playing, unassailable in its strength of grip, its breadth and solidity."
