LATE MR. M. C. MCGREGOR
FUND AS NATIONAL TRIBUTE [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Sunday Some concern has been felt by.relatives of the late Squadron-Leader M. C. McGregor regarding the form in which the appeal for funds for the benefit of his family has been announced. Mr. and Mrs. L. McGregor and Mr. E. J. McGregor, parents and brother respectively of the late squad-ron-leader, stated to-day that the idea of raising a fund originated in Palmer* ston North. It was the idea of the promoters to establish a national memorial to Squadron-Leader McGregor as a tribute to his work for aviation in both war and peace. Several forms of memorial were considered, but it was decided, after consultation with the relatives, that it would be more fitting to raise a. fund which would be of practical value and would benefit the airman * children. . The promoters made it clear that there was no suggestion of charity m the movement, but that a national tribute should, be paid to the memory of Squadron-Leader McGregor in the form adopted.
