NAVAL PARLEYS
DELEGATES IN LONDON TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES SIZE OF BATTLESHIPS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received February 28. 6.6 pjEfl.) British Wireless RUGBY. Feb. 27 A meeting was held to-day of the heads of the British and Italian delegations to the Naval Conference. Those present included Mr. Anthony Eden, Foreign Secretary, Viscount Monsell, First Lord of the Admiralty, and Signor Grandi and Admiral Biscia. Owing to technical difficulties, such as the size of battleships and the question of the gap between the battleship and the cruiser, as well as because of difficulties of procedure, the Italians intimated that they were not for the moment ready to sign a treaty. Subsequently a meeting with the French delegation was held to discuss the position in the light of the meeting with the Italian delegation. Also, it is understood, previous to the visit of the Italian delegation the German Ambassador called at the Foreign Office, and, during a conversation with Sir. Eden, clarification was made of certain points discussed at yesterday's meeting.
