ACROSS THE CHANNEL
TRAIN-FERRY SERVICE INAUGURATION IN OCTOBER (Received February 28. 6.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY. Feb. 27 A train-ferry service from Dover across the English Channel to Dunkirk will be in regular service by October. This was announced at the annual meeting of the Southern Railway Company under the auspices of which the service will be conducted. It was stated that it would enable business men to leave London late at night and sleep in the same train berth until they reached Paris for breakfast. Competition of the air routes must inevitably increase, but confidence was expressed that on the London-Paris route the new train-ferry service would be preferred to the air journey.
