A COMEDIAN'S "FAN" MAIL
GIFTS AND ADVICE FOR LLOYD Harold Lloyd's " fan " mail differs in type from that of almost every other screen star, according to his father, J. Darsie Lloyd, who oversees the opening of the comedian's letters. Most of his correspondents give him something —story ideas, " gags," cast suggestions or information on his hobbies —while the " fans " of other stars ask for photographs or tokens of some kind. "Twenty-four per cent of the mail contains suggestions for stories," Mr. Lloyd, senior, stated recently. " Another 12 per cent contains descriptions of 'gags' that tho comedian might use. Fifteen per cent are letters about his wife and children and 10 per cent compliment him on tho purity of his pictures. A further 19 per cent arc of a general complimentary nature, special reference being made to the latest picture produced. " About three per cent contains presents for the children arid 10 per cent contains requests for autographs," Mr. Lloyd added. " Tho other five per cent is taken up by those avlio give and ask advice about Harold's hobbies, hi# microscopic studies, his flower gardens and his dogs."
