ALL ABOUT REPTILES
Most people are of the opinion that the less they know, or have to know, about reptiles, the better, and the subpect is therefore one of which the average person prefers literally to steer clear. Should such people happen, by some stroke of luck, to come across W. S. Berridge's latest book, "All About Reptiles," they will probably repress a shudder, open it with misgiving, and straightway find themselves so entranced that they will read it through from beginning to end, and then turn back to have another look at the splendid photographic illustrations. The book deals with reptiles of every kind, some well-known and commonplace, some so strange _ that their description reads like a fairy tale or a fish story. Even the chapter on the Loch Ness Monster resembles some placid bedtime story, as compared with that on the alligator terrapin, or "snapping turtle," a creature that can bite a man's hand off with one click of its jaws, or the Komodo dragon, twelve foot long, and capable of swallowing at one gulp the entire hindquarters of a boar I
