SNAPSHOTS IN VERSE
A slim brochure, most attractively produced, under the title, " Vulcan Lane and Other Verses." has come to hand from the pen of the versatile young Wairarapa writer, Warwick Lawrence, now resident in Auckland. Slight though they are; mere impressions of a scene, an emotion, an idea, to be caught on the instant and then as swiftly gone, the versos have a grace, an elusive quality which is of tho very essence of poetry and which gives ev?ry promiso of biggor things to come. Auckland readers will appreciate tho lines on their own " Vulcan Lane " and " Victoria Regina," and there is, too, poetic quality in " Motion," "As a Reed is Broken," and " The Wairarapa." The latter is a district of which tins youthful author is well qualified to write, as he collated much new as well as recorded information in the form of a book entitled, " Three Mile Bush: An Early History of tho Wairarapa " when only 18 years of age. Tho present production boars an introduction by the gifted young journalist and authoress, Robin Hyde. written in her own inimitable vein. " Vulcan Lane and Other Verses,"- by Warwick Jjowrenco, ,(Unicorn Preße)<
