NOVEL GLIDER
This novel glider is easy to make, but it will be found very efficient, and will give flights of surprising duration in even a light breeze. The wings are made from strong heavy paper, the front one being shaped from a rectangle 24in. x 7in. and the rear one from a smaller rectangle 15in. x 4in. These are bent, round into cylinders and the overlapping edges are glued together.
The wing support is a 24in length of iin. rod or wooden strip. The larger cylinder is glued 3in. from end of the stick, and tho" rear wing is fixed right at tho other end. A piece of lead is formed into a weight which fits over tho front of the stick. At the start, the weight is put about l-Bin. from tho end of tho stick, but this distance should be adjusted until the best flights are obtained. The glider is launched into the air by holding it between the two .wings and then sending it forward into the breeze witli an overarm swing. If it tends to dive too steeply, the weight is moved forward a little, but if it climbs too quickly the weight is moved back a short way. A little experimenting will soon enable the maker to obtain long, steady flights.
