FINE FOR ASSAULT

TROUBLE OVER A DOO Charged with assaulting Frederick Walter Henry Robinson at Grey Lynn Park on the evening of December 28, Charles Sherman, a ma pried man, appeared before Mr. W. R. TVleKean, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. Sherman also was charged with bteing the owner of a dangerous dog. Mr. Schramm, who appeared for accused, ejitered pleas of not guilty in each case. Sub-Inspector Fox ipiid that complainant had been bittern by Sherman's fox terrier dog when Ilhe dog was recovering a ball that Sherman had hit during a game of orickot with two boys. Kobinson had asked wthose dog it was and accused had replied 'that it was his. Words followed, and complainant was struck one or two blows and was knocked down. A constable gave evidence that complainant had called ait the Grey Lynn police station afterwards, when he gave an account of whaif had happened. Complainant had a mark on his leg where lie had been billten, and his nose was bleeding. The constable also read a statement from thei accused in which ho alleged that Slaerman had used obscene language befcxre his children. Robinson, in evidence, denied using the language. The Magistrate fined! Sherman £2 for assault but dismissed the charge of being the owner of a. dangerous dog.
