DEFECTIVE BRAKES
TRUCK RUNS INTO CATTLE SEQUEL IN POLICE COURT [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Friday A fine of £2, with costs, £1 los 6d, was imposed on James P. Goldfinch, of Hamilton, in the Pukekohe Police Court to-day on a charge of driving a motor-truck with insufficient brakes on the Great South Road, Pokeno, on February 3. Evidence was given that defendant drove up to a herd of cattle and accidentally killed a bull. The truck travelled 8i chains before stopping. A garage proprietor said he examined the truck and found the hand brake useless and the foot brake only about 50 per cent efficient.
