Star Artist and Light Comedy galloped seven furlongs in 1.35, the first half-mile in 545. Both shaped well. Light Comedy is in great heart. London (Rennie) was schooled over four hurdles and shaped well, taking the fences in his strido and pulling up well. He was afterwards sent over a couple of circuits at three-quarter pace. London is engaged in the Ruakaka Hurdles on Saturday and is not without prospects. Gay Streak and Diacquedoon finished on terms at the completion of half a mile in 54Js. They did their work nicely. With 8.1 in the Juvenile Handicap at Te Aroha on Saturday, Gay Streak may make amends for his defeat at Te Rapa. La Femme Noire got to the end of five furlongs in 1.8, the first three in 395. La Femine Noire, who is engaged in the Waitoa Handicap on Saturday, has never looked better. Teak, who was the only horse to gallop on the No. 1 grass, was timed to run half a mile in oljs, the first two furlongs in 25 l-ss. Heritor reeled off three furlongs in 38s. Chenars beat Fidelity by a head over half a mile in 50s. Ruach went a mile and a-quarter in 2.13 J. Bunsby Gaze covered a mile and aquarter in 2.22, sprinting home the last five furlongs in 1.45. El Bassana went solidly over the same distance in 2.12}. On the grass Gay Lover sprinted three furlongs in 36£s. Allunga ran a mile and a-quarter in 2.28, the last four furlongs in 511s. The course proper, 25 feet out from the rails, was used for fast work at Caulfield, and the going was good. Regular Bachelor and Cluniac went five furlongs in 1.2. Great Legend recorded similar time over the same distance, running the last four in 495. On the steeplechase grass, next to the rails, Closing Time equalled the trat:k record by running four furlongs in 48s. Palm and Nabob sprinted the same distance in 495. Limond Lad and High Meadow ran five furlongs in 1.2. Dark Sky galloped six furlongs in 1.143, being assisted over the last half-mile by Beechwood in 4315. Geld Rod was going easily alongside Ilium at the end of three furlongs in 38s. Heroic Prince recorded the best seven furlongs in 1.31 J.
