DEVONPORT LIGHTS
CHANGES TO BE MADE f ■ *'• . 1 Following an investigation of the lighting system of Devonpoft, a special committee of the Devonport Borough Council recommended to the council on Wednesday night the retention of five of the new vapour discharge lamps in use. The committee also recommended the council to dispense with 13 small street lamps, and to alter the lighting systems at Narrow Neck Beach and tho' beach fronting Windsor Reserve, to allow for- the removal of the flood lights from the beaches. It was a further recommendation that one of the new lamps at Windsor Reserve be removed, and placed across the intersection of victoria and Calliope Roads, " thus brilliantly lighting the most congested and dangerous bend in Devonport." The council decided to adopt the recommendations, Mr. E. Aldridge being instructed to confer with tho commit tee regarding costs ! and power-board charges, before further action.
